Moordown Traders Association closing down statement

It is with regret that we announce that MTA is closing down; I would like to thank our members and everyone who has supported the association since it was formed in May 2009.

A decision was made in January to allow memberships to expire by the end of 2020. Support has been declining over recent years and the committee has struggled to function. Consequently, fewer meetings were taking place and impetus and purpose was dwindling.

Having said that, membership numbers remained steady and our website remained both popular and informative. We maintained our presence at monthly Local Government Affairs meetings Chaired by the Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce at Bournemouth Town Hall. We also had regular links with the Local Eye magazine in which, supported by the MTA, members enjoyed free promotional features introducing their business to a wide local audience.

Moordown is fortunate to have many individual, diverse businesses. It has been a pleasure to work with them over the past 11 years. Our bi-annual Business and Services maps have helped promote all local traders, both on and beyond the high street, as did our regular presence at many outdoor events including the Winton Carnival. We also had the pleasure of working with the Winton Traders Association over the years.

Sincere thanks to everyone who has sat on the MTA Committee, and those who attended meetings, our bookkeepers, printers and website manager. The sum total of everyone’s voluntary efforts has helped make Moordown the special place that it is today.

Best wishes for the future, especially during these uncertain times.
