Diane Avery, Cornflower Kitchen

Cornflour Kitchen is a home-based business in Victoria Park Road, Moordown, offering bespoke cakes for weddings, christenings, anniversaries or any special occasion.

Diane moved to Moordown from Reading 30 years ago with her husband and two young children. She started to bake cakes as a hobby for friends and family. She enhanced her skills by attending courses at the renowned Mary Ford cake shop in Southbourne which led her to start up a small business from home.

When the Alice in Wonderland attraction was first opened, Diane baked and decorated themed cakes for children’s birthday parties held there. She was an active member of the Bournemouth branch of the Sugarcraft Guild for a number of years and also worked at the newly reopened Cottage Loaf Bakery in Moordown.

Over the years Diane has been a teaching assistant helping children with special needs, worked as a legal secretary and, for 12 years, as a Human Resources manager in Financial Services. During that time she continued to bake cakes as a hobby. With Cornflower Kitchen she has been able to fulfill her ambition to work from home again and re-start her cake making business.

Cornflour Kitchen offers a personal and professional service and will strive to make each cake unique for it’s customers. Diane can also cater for special requirements such as gluten and dairy free cakes.
